Charming place, clean, delightful rooms and WONDERFUL staff. Unbeatable location a 10-15 minute walking distance from Ayasofya Hurrem Sultan Hamami. A great restaurant with delicious food at reasonable prices.

The location was stunning, just a pleasant stroll away from an Ottoman - era Friday mosque. The rooms were reasonably large, trendy, and had a safe, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, and a mini fridge bar.

Very nice staff - with a lovely homely feel and I think the location is superb from a tourists point of view- this is not sufficiently stressed.

I think that the sound insulation in the hotel could be better - Weighing machine should be available at the counter for luggage. Additional one or two small pics would be nice in the room

Great location that is close to everything, making it easy to get around on foot. the room is spacious and comes with a nice back garden where you can have breakfast. It also has a large window that lets in lots of natural light. They even provide fancy artisanal soaps for you to use. 🌿

The location of this hotel was great as it was not too close to the Sultnahamet center and sites but not too far; just a 10 minute walk. The staff at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The room size was also very good and the breakfast on the rooftop was very nice.

The staff were super friendly and outstandingly accommodating. Beds were lovely. - the hotel has a central setting near markets. - It is right by Sultanahmet Square, surrounded by the famous Blue Mosque and shops perfect for evening dinners. - the service provided was good.

Choosing a hotel in Istanbul, especially for a first visit, can be a perilous affair. What to pick: a stylish abode in a ritzy Nisantasi to be surrounded by beautiful and glamorous Istabullu, but then spend torturous hours in traffic on the way to the historic center? Settle for more comfortable, but sometime non-descript hotels in Beyoglu and rely on ferries and public transportation to get around? Or risk the pulling and tagging of street vendors and restaurateurs forever targetting tourists, but be within steps of the magnificent Byzantine and Ottoman landmarks? I have been coming to Istanbul for almost a quarter of a century, first as a student, a traveler, one half of a couple, a mum of one, then two, lately, as a big family reunion organizers... Here are my words of wisdom. If it is your first visit, staying in Sultanahmet is a must, it is a prerequisite to falling madly in love with the city, the perfect setting for explorations, time travel through history and a soaring flight of imagination. But where to stay so not to be disappointed? How to choose the one from a myriad of hotels? My personal and a rather chance discovery has been the Sari Konak hotel. Located within steps from the Hagia Sofya and the Blue Mosque, it is located in an old Ottoman house with creaky floors and steep stairs; however, the rooms are surprisingly spacious and extremely well appointed with comfortable and some antique furniture, beautiful lithographs of old Istanbul and Iznik ceramics. The hotel is a gem particularly if you travel with children, but do not want to or do not have a budget for two rooms. Sari Konak's family rooms are perfect with children's bedroom, comfortable room for parents and a kitchenette. Breakfast - a simple yet sufficient Turkish affair with added scrambled eggs for hungry Anglo-Americans thrown in - is served on the rooftop terrace with both Sultanahmet and Hagia Sofya as a backdrop and seagulls' cries and Bospborous ship signals as accompaniment. The concierges/ front desk attendants help with your needs sensing perfectly whether it is your first time and you are looking to be wowed or you are a seasoned visitor seeking something off the beaten path. Their responsiveness ahead of the arrival is also impressive. While being smack in the tourist centre staying in Sari Konak gives you a feel of a real quaint neighborhood with a barber next door, calm tea house around the corner and even your own neighborhood cats and a baby crow. Use the place as a base to explore, pen a chapter of the book you always wanted to write on the room's old and dignified Ottoman writing desk. Come evening, ask the helpful efendi at the front desk to send you to a local authentic Cretan restaurant- less touristy more traditional - where you can reminisce old Constantinople and its breathtaking diversity. Sari Konak, while not luxurious, is that perfect mix of good taste and history with the melancholy Istanbul charm that won't break your bank. Come as a tourist, stay as a traveler, fall in love like so many romantics before you.

Overall it was a wonderful stay at great value. Greatly enjoyed the staff, they blew my mind, knowledgeable and flexible people! - the room was neat and trendy, offered a mini bar, coffee, and a sofa. - Its location not too far from Sultanahmet District Public Square was excellent and perfect. - There were a bazaar and a grand bazaar around the hotel. - the breakfast was savory and plentiful, I would stay here again and again.

The hotel is lovely and very well placed in the heart of Istanbul .

Be carreful and check your booking with the hotel , especially if you booked through Booked.net . I made reservation ( 3 weeks in advance ) for 2 deluxe rooms and when we got there we found they had no deluxe room available, though we got the confirmation from Booked.net . So ,we ended up in a standard room which is very small by any standard :)
